One of INET’s missions is to provide initial training for future management executives in local public service. After being selected through a competitive examination, these students join INET for a professional training course lasting 12 to 18 months. INET thus trains future top managers in the administrative (administrators), technical (engineers) and cultural (library conservators, heritage conservators) sectors.
Practical internship placements
INET training alternates between theoretical studies and practical internship placements so as to enable students to progressively acquire the skills and responsibilities expected of a regional management executive. During their training, INET students complete between 3 and 5 internships.
An internship abroad
During their training, the administration and library conservation students are expected to complete an internship in a professional environment other than a local authority. This internship can take place abroad or in France, in a public, private or non-profit organisation. The aim is to develop the students’ skills and give them the opportunity to discover a new work environment.
Open-mindedness is a key part of INET training: our future management executives should be able to work in collaboration with many different partners, notably in Europe and internationally.
Why take an INET student as an intern?
INET students have a wide range of profiles. Some students come to INET directly after their university studies, others already have several years of professional experience behind them, not only in the public sector but also in the private and non-profit sectors.
Taking an INET student as an intern is the opportunity to:
- Entrust him/her with a mission linked to a problem in your structure. Some examples of missions to be completed during an internship are: benchmarking, impact studies, analyses of management issues or human resources etc.
- Benefit from an outsider’s perspective and from the intern’s skills in analysis, synthesis and appraisal (human resources, finances, public policies, organisation methodology/methods etc.)
- Learn about or deepen your knowledge of regional public service in France
- Identify new workshop facilitation techniques: collective intelligence, co-construction, services design etc. INET students are trained in strategic management and are expected to be able to manage large teams.
